Activist Street Game (2017)
Materials: Digital and Print-out Flyers
Game Design: all
During the 2017 G20 summit in Hamburg, various forms of protest were developed, one of which was a street game. The only “rule” was that anyone could participate. The aim was to mobilize large numbers of people to take part in the game and thus in the protest. IDEA forms were made available to collect different forms of protest. These forms could be used to disseminate so-called rituals or instructions for tools used in the protest. Rituals ranged from playful forms of squatting to spontaneous sound systems. Tools e.g. were items to motivate in the act of civil disobedience. The game was loosly tight to a broader network called Alles Allen, which stands for solidarity, abolition of inequality and liberty from state violence.
There's also a news report on ARD about artistic practices in protests during the G20 summit.
